Wow. That looks SO damn good! It does throw that whole "heat rises" technique for cooling right out the window. But it LOOKS so damn good!

I understand that it is subjective but I wouldn't put such a thing on my desk. I still prefer the original cube enclosure over anything aluminum. Besides I still don't understand the usefulness of those handles at the top.

if you look at the other pages, it's a step by step "how to" on making this... (if you can read japanese...) it actually looks like it's some sort of plastic, not aluminum. but, it sure does look good! How long do you think before those pics start showing up on the rumor sites as the "G5 cube"?

QUOTE but it doesn't look like a Cube, more like shrimped G5 i kinda think that was the idea two thumbs up from me. at least in the photos it looks like a qualtiy mod. i dont see one place for suggested improvement (aside from improving the hardware specs) -------------------- |

awsome, if powerlogix were to make a limited powercube enclosure similar to that one i'd buy it in a heart-beat.

Ditto!! As much as I like the PowerLogix's PowerCube Enclosures, it is bigger and because the entire "leg portion" is "covered up" with the same material up, it makes the whole enclosure, visual wise, bulkier...
If PowerLogix were to take this as an idea and design a 'unique' G5-like Aluminium Cube Enclosure, bigger I can accept, to be more functional also than just a "makeover" - better cooling and/or even like in the Jap site, able to add a couple of hubs?? That will be way cool!! :thumb_up And I will sure get one!! Although like I said, a "unique" design to Cube, I wouldn't put in the top handles, they are quite redundant... Cheers!! :teeth -------------------- :: Hardware :: G4 Cube 800MHz, 1.5Gb Ram, SuperDrive, 40G HD, nVidia GeForce 3MX 64Mb video card, Apple 17" ADC LCD Display | 12" PowerBook SuperDrive, 640Mb Ram, 60G

Nice stuff (to me nicer than powerlogix case) and finelly the ports are in an easy access. Nevertheless I prefer my original Cube. Not to mention cooling matter (fan mandatory)

Heck I would shell out some money for one. Front usb/firewire ports would be outstanding! Just being able to plug and unplug stuff from the back of the cube is a big plus!

This case looks amazing...Powerlogix, are you listening?
My only concern is cooling...I'm assuming the guy who did this project added a base fan. But even still, is it safe to be running the Cube on its side like that? Will the video card eventually bake in this configuration? Man oh man, I want this case!!! (a 20th-anniversary G5 Cube looking like this would just about be the only thing to make me get rid of my current Cube) |
