Given the history, it would be wise to wait until the next installment of CPUD is available before upgrading the OS. I've been doing a lot of video recently, and it is easier to do at the faster CPU speed, so I'm not volunteering to try it this time.

I wonder why Apple is being so cautious "About the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update (delta)"!?

Thanks for the link, Fangsuede.

Well I've performed the X.4.10 update on my iPod 20Gb (running Mac OS X with CHUD 3.5.2 + NAP script) and everything went smooth. Can't report about temperatures though, as there's no possible way to monitor these until a compatible CPUD version is available.

I used the Combo, it does it's double re-boot, so don't worry.

Great find exclam.gif

I bet the problem is triggered by any disk access, which can happen if certain background applications are running. My distributed computing background programs do read/write to disk on a regular basis, and I usually forget to turn them off prior to updating. If they try to read/write during the prebinding--it won't boot properly.

The lesson--turn off all applications including background apps prior to applying OS updates or security updates.

On another topic,on v10.4.10+.9 (aka Leopard);I spend time to install but to no avail "it won't run" on a stock Cube (450mHz) cause it needs at least 800mHz. It is time for a CPU upgrade (w/out that) Powerlogix CPUD driver.

Anybody tried OS X 10.5?

Developers have to sign a non disclosure agreement before getting the beta OSX. So, no one who values their developer license is gonna be talking about it. In addition, Laurie has forbidden any specific chat about unreleased OSX matters, period.

Okay, understand the situation and at first I thought there is some censorship going on at this site. It is a useful subject matter because involves the life of my Cube (to replace or not to).

Thanks

Well, you are not the only one interested in the Cubes future with OSX. I have a developers license but I didn't want to spend the $1K to try Leopard out, and then I couldn't talk about anyway. When anything concrete is known AFTER the release there will be plenty of chat on this site.

If you like pure speculation, with just a hint of what is available, try the threads in this topic.
