The new Toast 8 has been out for a little while and it includes TiVo-to-go functionality. I'm sure that our Cubes will be able to transfer the files successfully, but after that, I'm not sure.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe Toast 8 changes the video's format for use in Quicktime (Quicktime 7.1.3 is required for Toast 8). And then you can watch the video on your computer. I'm looking for anyone who has used Toast 8's TiVo-to-go feature on the Cube to discuss playback of TiVo's shows played on the Cube. What, if any, format change is required after the file transfer? Does it take a long time? Do we watch it in Quicktime? What is the resolution? If you have HD content on your TiVo, can we downsize it so our Cubes can handle it? (I haven't had any luck with HD on the Cube). Sadly, I think this might be the nail in the coffin for our cubes-- I don't think they're fast enough, even with a dual 1.4 to move the data required for video. Thank you for any guidance-- this is a new area for me. |
