I hate to re-ignite VRM wars on a Friday afternoon - but here goes.

C-VRM has been in for a week and had behaved (ie you can't tell the difference) until yesterday. I then had to do a job that I only do once a month - flatbed scanning. Hooked up the HP scanner, scanned to Adobe Reader and "Saved As..." to name and put the file in the correct folder. As soon as the saving progress bar completed there was a beep from the HD, spin down and black screen. The fan stayed on, as did the power button and other lights inside. Rubbish old HP drivers thinks I (but also thinks - it's never done that before). Hold the power until it turns off then restart and everything's fine. Scan again. This time the HD beeps but recovers and everything continues as normal. Suspect the USB, so I try open a file from a card reader and save that as something else - no problemo.

At this point I have no clue but am not unduly concerned. Today however, for no particular reason, run Xbench. App opens fine then, as soon as I click start - beep, spin down, black screen. Try again - same. Starting to think "oh ****". Swap stock VRM back in - Xbench runs fine. Swap C-VRM back in - beep, spin down, black screen. Is this one of the famous Sonnet/C-VRM "issues"? An application process shutting down disk and video power? Too weird.

Now, in the space of a week I have not used every app nor untertaken every process that I would in the course of my work so I don't know if I've uncovered the full extent of this, but as I've said, for the most part it runs just fine.
