Yes, but it unloads during boot. Back to dual 1.2 GHz until version 2.3b6 is available. May our wait be short.

OWC is actively working on the update to CPUD for 10.4.9 compatibility. If you use CPUD, you are advised to hold off on updating to 10.4.9 until CPUD is updated.

Dave and Laurie: thanks for the quick reply! Dave, may I ask you how do you turn your dual 1.7GHz into a dual 1.2GHz?... Or did I misunderstood something!? To quote Mythbusters, "Do no try this at home!". If you want to void your warrantee (like I did), you can reset some DIP switches on the CPU board to change your speed and heat output. I would recommend you wait to upgrade until the new CPUD comes out as it is not a trivial task. If you want to know how it is done, do a forum search and you will find the information. Laurie, as usual, has sage advice. |

This update includes iChat support for USB Video Class webcams.
Does this mean that we Mac users can use some of those dozens of USB webcams for sale for PC's? Wouldn't that be nice? Edit: To answer my own question, I went to Apple Discussions and found out that Apple now supports USB cameras based on UVC. It is hard to find which cameras use that protocol, but here is a list from Logitech. logitech Maybe another reason why the iSight camera was removed from sale? Are there any other apps similar to CPUD? and is it dangerous if i don't use it while cube running? I've been upgraded it to 10.4.9........ Thx! All that happens is that the CPU runs at top speed full time. If you have a single CPU, you will not have a problem. If you have dual CPU's, it can be a problem depending on the temperature when you run full out. If that is 70 C or less, you will be fine for a couple of weeks. The real problem is that you cannot now measure the CPU temperature as the CPUD kext won't load. |

FYI: Installing CPUD the first time, the installation actually install a daemon (application) on the System/Library/StartupItems/PowerLogix; and then depending on your CPUD setup this will be executed at your next startup. You can actually look at the system log and view the system start up events. |
