MCE Ships 8X SuperDrive Upgrade for PowerBook G4, Cube with Double Layer Support

Highlights:

In addition to recording to both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW media at up to 8X speed, the MCE 8X SuperDrive includes Double Layer (also called Dual Layer) support and can record up to 8.5GB of information at up to 2.4X speed on a single side of DVD+R Double Layer media. The MCE 8X SuperDrive upgrade with Double Layer support will begin shipping in quantity December 20.

Bootable and fully compatible with Apple's iTunes, iDVD, Finder Burning, iPhoto, and DVD Player. In addition, the drive is natively supported by Mac OS 10.3.6 (or later). Drivers are provided for compatibility with Mac OS 9 and Mac OS 10.2.x.

Compatible with all PowerBook G4 12-inch, 15-inch, and 17-inch laptops. The suggested retail price is $299 for those PowerBook G4 or Cube systems currently with a CD-R/RW-DVD-ROM combo drive, or DVD-R SuperDrive and $349 for those systems currently with a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM only drive.
